Dominick Cruz wants his belt back in a bad way. The former UFC bantamweight champion, who never actually lost his belt, has been sidelined for much of the past several years with multiple injuries.

Cruz suffered his latest injury in December after coming back from three years off to knock-out top ranked fighter Takeya Mizugaki at UFC 178 in a staggering 61 seconds. That injury shut down his chance at regaining his title from current champ T.J. Dillashaw. Now, he plans on returning and going right after the title.

“That’s really what I want, to go straight after Dillashaw or whoever has the title. I think Dillashaw is gonna have it. I want to fight him and show him that he never was the best, he never was the champ.”

“That’s the goal and I’m on track for it. And it is feasible, because other people with ACL injuries like I’ve sustained have done it in the amount of time that I’m mentioning.”

“I know what I’m capable of after my body has been completely broken down and rebuilt and I’m just as good as I ever was, if not better. So I’m excited to come back and win that title.”
