Werdum Punches Velasquez

UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum has been saying he thinks former champ Cain Velasquez is worthy of a rematch and it looks like he was right.

Reported earlier on Wednesday’s episode of UFC Tonight, champ Fabricio Werdum will defend his title for the first time against the man he took it from, Cain Velasquez.

The news apparently came from UFC presented Dana White, but he also said that at this time he’s unsure of when or where the rematch will take place.

Werdum shocked a lot of people when he beat up the champ in Mexico City at UFC 188, finishing him with a guillotine choke. Many pointed to the extreme altitude having a major effect on Velasquez, who only trained for a few weeks in Mexico prior to the fight, so it will be interesting to see how things play out if it’s held in a different location.
