“I’ve faced plenty of wrestlers like Vladimir Matyushenko, Jake O’Brien and Matt Hamill and had no problems. Chael is a decent wrestler. He was an Olympic alternate but he wasn’t on the team. No disrespect to other alternates but he’s not at that level. Who cares if he takes me down, he gets submitted all the time from top position anyways. I’ve wrestled since I was a 14 year old boy and I still love wrestling. I’m definitely prepared. If he does take me down, so what? His ground and pound is weak and he gets submitted all the time. If I do get him down, his face will open up. I feel I have nothing to worry about in wrestling. I have a slight edge in jiu-jitsu and I have a huge edge in kickboxing. I’m not intimidated by his power. I don’t see any way Chael can win this fight but I’ll still train like a madman. I’m ready to lay the smackdown for the things he said not only for the things he said not just about me but about other people and send him back to the movies.” “Chael’s an interesting guy. I respect some things about him. He goes and gets what he wants except for world championships or any championships. He’s a good talker and good for the sport in some ways. He’s extremely disrespectful and not much of a championship level athlete at all. He’ll be able to do his TV shows and commentating and all that. I’m doing Chael a favor by showing Chael what his true calling which is his gift of gab and not athletic talent.”

But as a fighter, I was like, ‘man, what’s it gonna take for me to get a chance to get back up in there?’ I wanted to fight Anderson, but it didn’t end up happening because they said I needed one more fight to be a contender at middleweight. But I guess it’s not the same for everybody.” “I was hoping in December, by the end of the year, but it looks like it’s not going to happen. Maybe in February or March. But who am I going to fight, that’s the big question. I can’t go down in weight class after a loss to Jones unless it’s a special event, unless it’s something that really beckons for my calling, and then I’ll do it.”

You can’t beat Anderson Silva’s record. You haven’t defended your belt one time. You’re silly. What are you talking like that for?” It’s like wow guys, you guys are really mad at me for having longterm goals? I want to be the best ever and one of my goals is to break Anderson’s record for title defenses. I’m sorry, I apologize if I offended you somehow, but I do have longterm goals, I like to set my goals high and then go out and get them done. If you want to be a Mundial champion, if you want to be a black belt and win the Pan-Ams, you want to win the worlds, win the Europeans, then you should bust your butt and train like it,” Henderson said. While a guest on MMA Weekly Radio, UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson went on the record to defend his comments pertaining to beating Anderson Silva’s win streak and title defense records so that he can be considered the greatest of all-time.

“I don’t have an opponent. But with the two-month delay, hopefully Frank Mir is healed up and ready to go. I haven’t been told I’m fighting for sure, but if they’re promising a stacked card, I’m hoping I’m one of the guys they look at and you put [me] on the card and it becomes a little bit better. This last Strikeforce fight was never a negative to me. It’s what I owe to that organization and Showtime for all they’ve done for me. It wasn’t a negative. But now it’s drifting along, drifting along. I’m ready for it to get done… January’s show is happening. Let’s not lose interest in Strikefore.
