Randy Couture explains decision to turn down Emelianenko fight

Heading into Fedor Emelianenko’s MMA return on New Year’s Eve at Rizin FF there was much speculation as to who Fedor Emelianenko’s opponent would be.. Ultimately, Emelianenko fought and defeated Jaideep Singh, in the very first round of their main event scrap. Following the bout it was revealed that WSOF President and kickboxing legend Ray Sefo was offered the fight, as well as former UFC champion Randy Couture.

Former champ TJ Dillashaw lost his title over the weekend, but the 25 minutes in the octagon may of been the most ‘drama free’ time for Dillashaw will be having these days. Duane Ludwig seems to be going on the defensive and letting everyone know that he is the reason where Dillashaw is at in his career ‘success wise’ and Urijah Faber had little to do with the former champs success. Matt Mitrione gives new update on his broken orbital floor eye injury

It was a gruesome injury that Matt Mitrione suffered in his controversial fight against Travis Browne at UFC Fight Night 81. Upon getting it checked by a doctor, Mitrione revealed that he suffered a broken orbital floor as well as a shoulder injury at the hands of Browne in a TKO stoppage, but not before two accidental eye pokes earlier in the fight. While Browne said the pokes were an absolute accident, Mitrione says he believes the injuries would not have happened if the eye pokes did not occur.

There has been much speculation as to whether or not our namesake BJ Penn would be coming out of retirement for a fight with Nik Lentz. Recently, Lentz penned an open letter to ‘The Prodigy’ in which he stated his terms for a fight, and that a fight wouldn’t happen unless Penn agreed to those specific terms. Penn joined Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, where he revealed that his retirement is officially over, and that he’s going for the featherweight strap with famed coach Greg Jackson in his corner.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. stirred up a lot of conversation recently with his opinion of racism still being prevalent in combat sports. Mayweather claimed that UFC stars Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey’s success were due to them being white. McGregor responded to Mayweather with an aggressive letter and even proposed a fight with the retired boxing champion. Obviously, the claim of color being attributed to the success of McGregor and Rousey upset some, but Bellator and RIZIN veteran Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal agrees with Mayweather. Lawal spoke with the MMA Roasted podcast recently and talked about the situation as a black fighter himself.
