TUF 24 Finale Results: Dong Hyun Kim defeats Brendan O’Reilly

A lightweight bout between Dong Hyun Kim and Brendan O’Reilly took place on tonight’s TUF 24 Finale prelims in Las Vegas.

Round one begins and Kim quickly gets O’Reilly pressed against the cage. Kim working some short shots and knees. Brendan switches the position and drops down for a takedown. It is not there. Kim reverses the position and works some knees from the clinch. O’Reilly throws a knee but Kim catches it and scores a takedown. Kim lands in half guard and begins working some shots. He transitions to the back of O’Reilly. Good knees from the back by Kim. Brendan gets back to his feet but Kim drags him right back to the floor. Kim takes Brendan’s back and sinks in both hooks. O’Reilly scrambles but winds up mounted. He continues to scramble and somehow gets back to full guard. Good shots from the top by Kim. He moves to half guard and works some more short shots to end round one.

Round two begins and O’Reilly lands a leg kick to start. Kim presses forward and scores an easy takedown. He moves Brendan against the fence and begins working some ground and pound. He transitions to half guard. A nice left from the top by Kim. And another. Kim jumps over to side control and lands a hard knee to the body of Brendan. O’Reilly bucks and scrambles and somehow takes the back of Kim. Dong quickly scrambles and winds up back on top. What a transition that was. Kim starts working some short shots from the top. Brendan grabs a hold of Kim’s left arm and begins working for a Kimura. Dong escapes the submission and passes to the mount position. Brendan scrambles and gets back to his feet. Great stuff from O’Reilly there. Brendan with a huge elbow inside. He scores another. He has Kim trapped against the cage. Round two comes to an end.

Round three begins and O’Reilly lands a nice combination to start. Kim grabs a hold of him and presses him against the fence. Brendan uses a trip to switch the position against the fence. Kim quickly reverses the position back. O’Reilly switches the position and lands a big elbow inside. Both fighters are working hard in the clinch. Kim switches the position once again. The referee tells the fighters to break. Kim is quick to reengage in the clinch. He takes Brendan down and winds up in mount position. After some jockeying for position round three comes to an end.
