Scott Coker recalls negotiations with Fedor Emelianenko

On New Year’s Eve of 2015, MMA icon Fedor Emelianenko made his highly anticipated return to the Octagon when he fought Singh Jaideep at Rizin Fighting Federation’s inaugural event in Saitama, Japan. It took ‘The Last Emperor’ just over three minutes to secure a TKO win, picking up his first win since retiring in 2012. Following the win, Emelianenko returned to the Octagon in June to fight former UFC fighter Fabio Maldonado. While the fight was an extremely close one, with Emelianenko nearly being finished early on, Emelianenko was ultimately awarded a majority decision win in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Scott Coker took over operations for Bellator MMA back in 2014, when Viacom replaced Bjorn Rebney with the former Strikeforce president. Ever since, Bellator has signed some massive free agents, from Rory MacDonald to Benson Henderson. Bellator’s Facebook page pasted a video on Monday in celebration of Coker’s birthday, and some of the major successes the company has had since he took over.

In the wake of UFC 200, it was announced that the Fertitta brothers had sold the UFC for $4 billion to WME-IMG. With the sale, it was announced that UFC President Dana White would be staying on board, and even taking on a bigger role within the promotion.

Scott Coker planning "serious discussion" with Wanderlei Silva

While Wanderlei Silva was just recently released from his UFC contract, Bellator MMA President Scott Coker plans on having a “serious discussion” with ‘The Axe Murderer’ about fighting in Bellator sooner rather than later. Wanderlei received a lifetime ban from the NSAC, which was reversed and will see Silva get another hearing. Following that Silva accused the UFC of fixing fights, however he recently retracted his statement which subsequently led to the UFC releasing him from his contract.
