A new episode of BJPENN.COM Radio is here, Penn Nation!
First up, coming off a sensational KO win at Bellator 201 over the weekend, good friend of the show Juan Archuleta. “The Spaniard” returns to help us recap his performance and discuss what’s next for the future champ. When he’d like to get back to action, the most ideal matchups, which title he plans to capture first, we’re going to cover it all. We’ll also get an update on Juan’s daughter and hear how the news of his only child having a medical emergency just hours before his fight weighed on his conscious going in.
UFC bantamweight prospect and crowd-pleaser, Brian “Boom” Kelleher makes his first appearance on the show to give us an update on when he’ll be back to action. Following a hard-fought decision loss to Jon Lineker at UFC 224, Kelleher appeared to be very disappointed in himself despite not losing any stock with educated fans. We’ll discuss his reignited ambitions for MMA, who makes the most sense for an opponent, the timeframe for his return, and much more.
UFC women’s flyweight No. 1 contender and an athlete whom many believe is the uncrowned champ, Valentina Shevchenko, returns to discuss the likelihood of her highly-anticipated title fight against Nicco Mantano finally happening at UFC 228. “The Bullet” has been campaigning for this fight since February and remains skeptical until the contract is actually signed. We’ll also get Valentina’s reaction to her incredibly talented sister, Antonina, being awarded a UFC contract following a dominant victory on DWTNCS.
We close out this episode with the aforementioned sister of violence, Antonina Shevchenko. We’ll recap her win on DWTNCS against Jaymee Nievara and get her thoughts on finally joining Valentina in the UFC. Already heralded as one of the best women in Muay Thai competition, “El Pantera” now brings that championship demeanor into the spotlight and plans to win a title under the UFC banner. How does that play out regarding both sisters competing in the same division? Listen in to find out!
