A contest between Daniel Cormier and UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones has already been bounced around by plenty of fans and media and looks to be a tremendous scrap on paper. Although Cormier is stuck in Strikeforce, he has but “one last fight” on his contract before being moved to the UFC.

It was recently announced that a fight between featherweights Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier (12-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC) and Jonathan Brookins (13-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC) will take place at the “TUF 16 Finale”, set for December 15th at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

After witnessing Vitor Belfort nearly finish Jon Jones by throwing a up a submission attempt from his back at UFC 152, Vinny Magalhaes believes he can properly instruct Chael Sonnen on how to defeat the current UFC light heavyweight champion when the two collide in April of next year.

However, coming off a UFC 145 loss to Jon Jones and with the rest of his division tied up with other bouts, there is no one for the former champ to fight inside the top 10 of the weight class.

This is a tournament so tough that great fighters like Josh Koscheck, Gray Maynard, Stephan Bonnar and Chris Leben couldn’t even win it. It’s so tough, that world champions Forrest Griffin and Rashad Evans came through it. I happen to know the talent that has been selected for this show, this will put all of those seasons to shame and there is a world champion, if not more than one, that’s in these young men. Write this down, the toughest tournament in mixed martial arts is coming to FX.” During Wednesday’s UFC tele-conference to promote season 17 of “The Ultimate Fighter” the Chael Sonnen hype machine turned it’s attention to the UFC’s reality series by proclaiming it the toughest tournament/athletic competition in the world.

“I’ve faced plenty of wrestlers like Vladimir Matyushenko, Jake O’Brien and Matt Hamill and had no problems. Chael is a decent wrestler. He was an Olympic alternate but he wasn’t on the team. No disrespect to other alternates but he’s not at that level. Who cares if he takes me down, he gets submitted all the time from top position anyways. I’ve wrestled since I was a 14 year old boy and I still love wrestling. I’m definitely prepared. If he does take me down, so what? His ground and pound is weak and he gets submitted all the time. If I do get him down, his face will open up. I feel I have nothing to worry about in wrestling. I have a slight edge in jiu-jitsu and I have a huge edge in kickboxing. I’m not intimidated by his power. I don’t see any way Chael can win this fight but I’ll still train like a madman. I’m ready to lay the smackdown for the things he said not only for the things he said not just about me but about other people and send him back to the movies.” “Chael’s an interesting guy. I respect some things about him. He goes and gets what he wants except for world championships or any championships. He’s a good talker and good for the sport in some ways. He’s extremely disrespectful and not much of a championship level athlete at all. He’ll be able to do his TV shows and commentating and all that.
