On Thursday a report came out stating that Manny Pacquiao said he was in talks with Floyd Mayweather Jr. about doing a rematch. Of course that spread like wildfire and had everyone wondering if the impossible could actually happen again and these two would step back in the ring together. However, a few things to note. First, the report, from Agence France Presse, or AFP, includes a quote from Pacquiao that in no way mentions Mayweather’s name. The writer did say in the article that Pacquiao confirmed he was in negotiations with both Mayweather and Amir Khan, but no quote. So, take that as yo will.

Mayweather, who retired after beating Andre Berto and getting his record to 49-0, took to his Instagram to celebrate being named one of Hip Hop’s most influential men. Yeah, you read that right. ‘The Source’ has named him as one of the five most influential males in the current Hip Hop movement. Oh it gets better, here’s the list of the other names on the list: Kanye West, Jay-Z, Puff Daddy and Dr. Dre. Yeah, you know, people who rap.

Former PRIDE boss Nobuyui Sakakibara introduced his brand new MMA promotion during a press conference in Tokyo on Thursday. The new promotion will be called Rizin Fighting Federation and the two-night event in December will be called the “Rizin Fighting World Grand Prix 2015”.

Well it’s official. We now know the name of the new MMA organization out of Japan, run by former PRIDE FC boss Nobuyuki Sakakibara. At a recent press conference it was announced that the promotion will be called ‘Rizin Fighting Federation.’ Many expected them to announce Fedor Emelianenko’s opponent at the press conference, but that wasn’t the case. Earlier in the week it was reported that his opponent will be a 1-0 MMA fighter named Jaideep Singh. So, we still don’t know 100% if that’s the case. At the presser they did announce that there will be a two night event called the Rizin Fighting World Grand Prix 2015. There are three days of action, but one of those days will serve as a fan event.

Perhaps Lemieux’s biggest chance to do so is to land with his big power punches, however, ‘GGG,’ thinks that if Lemieux comes in and just tries to use his power, than he’ll probably only last three or four rounds.

Well it seems likely that we’ll be adding another name to the list, with boxer Guillermo Rigondeaux, who is the WBA/WBO super bantamweight champion. It’s being reported that Rigondeaux is on the verge of being stripped by the WBO because he has failed to stick to their rules and hasn’t defended his belt in more than 9 months, since his win over Japan’s Hisashi Amagasa on December 31. 2014.
