Don't confuse a defeat with failure or a victory with success. In a life of a champion there will always be some losses, just like in the life of a some looses there will be some victories. The difference is that when a champion grows with his defeat, a looser gets comfortable with his victory. Recently Cain Velasquez withdrew from his UFC 196 bout with Fabricio Werdum with a back injury. Velasquez’ withdrawal ultimately led to the UFC booking Stipe Miocic as a fill-in opponent for Werdum, who then withdrew from the bout with a back injury. After a brief scramble that saw Nate Diaz offer to fight Anthony Pettis in the main event, the UFC promoted the co-main event bout between Johny Hendricks and Stephen Thompson to the main event, and moved the card to Fox Sports 1.

While Wanderlei Silva was just recently released from his UFC contract, Bellator MMA President Scott Coker plans on having a “serious discussion” with ‘The Axe Murderer’ about fighting in Bellator sooner rather than later. Wanderlei received a lifetime ban from the NSAC, which was reversed and will see Silva get another hearing. Following that Silva accused the UFC of fixing fights, however he recently retracted his statement which subsequently led to the UFC releasing him from his contract.

Recently Floyd Mayweather stated that he believed Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor are so adored by fans despite their heavy trash talk because of their skin color. While Mayweather certainly caught criticism for the comments, including McGregor stating that there are people buried in the desert for less, UFC President Dana White fired back at Mayweather with a very calculated response.

In the main event Nick Diaz Defended his Strikeforce championship against Evangelista Santos, while in the co-main event Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza defended his Strikeforce middleweight championship against Robbie Lawler.

Rumblings were going on that heavyweight contender Stipe Miocic turned down a fight with former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones when Jones offered to go up to heavyweight and fight for a title and save the UFC 196 card.

The chatter of former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre coming back to compete in the UFC seem like they started as soon as he made the decision to step away from fighting back in 2013. The hint of a comeback intensified on Thursday after a Quebec reporter tweeted that St-Pierre would be announcing his comeback in the coming days. However, the tweet that chirped a resounding message was muffled soon after.

On this day 4 years ago Chael Sonnen fought Michael Bisping in Chicago Illinois in the co-main event of ‘UFC on FOX: Evans vs. Davis’. With the win over Bisping, Sonnen earned himself a rematch with Anderson Silva after nearly ending the reign of ‘The Spider’ at UFC 117 in 2010.

Undefeated Sage Northcutt has taken a shift in the UFC. After Northcutt’s originally scheduled lightweight opponent Andrew Holbrook had to pull out of their fight set for UFC on FOX 18 this Saturday, Northcutt was given a new opponent at welterweight. Northcutt is now set to fight Bryan Barberena at 170-pounds and is loving that he gets to eat more ahead of his fight. Northcutt spoke with MMA Junkie recently on how he is feeling ahead of his bout this weekend.
