Rodtang Jitmuangnon has publicly expressed his desire for another encounter with Jonathan Haggerty.

The Thai megastar made his intentions clear in an Instagram post following Haggerty’s successful defense of his ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title against Felipe Lobo.

This happened in the main event of ONE Fight Night 19 on Prime Video last Friday, February 16. There, “The General” thwarted his Brazilian challenger by TKO in the third round.

“Congratulations on your last fight. You fought very well. Now come fight me again, so we can see who the real G is,” he wrote.

The roots of this rivalry can be traced back to August 2019. Back then, Rodtang and Haggerty first clashed on the ONE Championship stage.

In a classic bout, Rodtang emerged victorious, claiming the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title by unanimous decision.

The rematch in January 2020 was even more emphatic. Rodtang secured the finish with brutal body shots, shutting down the British striker within three rounds.

Since their epic encounters, both men took divergent paths in their careers.

“The Iron Man” solidified his status as ONE’s Muay Thai poster boy, dominating the division with an unmatched ferocity.

On the other hand, Haggerty opted to move up in weight. It was a decision that proved pivotal in his career trajectory.

This paid off handsomely when Haggerty dethroned Nong-O Hama for the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title in April 2023.

His resurgence continued seven months later when he added the vacant ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Title to his collection, defeating divisional MMA king Fabricio Andrade.

Jonathan Haggerty welcomes all comers in next fight

Following his recent victory over Felipe Lobo, Jonathan Haggerty seems open to all possibilities for his future.

“I’m happy to fight anyone, but at this moment in time, it’s back to the drawing board,” he said.

“Forget everyone, I’m a champ-champ and they could all wait in line, and they could discuss it among themselves. At the moment, I’m going to have a little bit of a rest, recoup, and elevate.”
