Sage Northcutt is a free agent, free to roam and find a new home.

Speculation as to where the welterweight prospect may wind up began the week of ONE Championship’s big ONE: Heart of the Lion event. Obviously, the brunt of the speculation was that Northcutt was going to or discussing signing with ONE. Which, we would find out that weekend was the idea of his visit to Singapore.

However, nothing has yet to come from it but now UFC President Dana White has confirmed that they will not be re-signing the 11-2 22-year old athlete (6-2 in the UFC).

Singing his praises since the week of Heart of the Lion has been ONE’s CEO Chatri Sityodtong who continued to do so following White’s announcement. Northcutt would respond to Sityodtong comments shortly after.

Sityodtong: Without a doubt, @sagenorthcutt is one of the most talented martial artists on the planet today. He possesses insane athleticism, incredible skills, and unlimited potential. Above all though, Sage is a wonderful human being with a heart of gold.

Northcutt: Thanks Mr. Chatri for the confidence in me! Looking forward to great things

Sage Northcutt joined the UFC in October 2015 at just 19 years old and quickly made an impression after catching the eye of White on his YouTube series Dana White: Lookin’ For a Fight.

Northcutt would defeat Francisco Trevino in his promotional debut in just 57 seconds by TKO. His sophomore appearance wouldn’t be too bad either as he earned a submission (guillotine) win over Cody Pfister.

Now riding a solid three-fight winning streak and coming into his own as a well rounded fighter, it’s easy to see why someone like Chatri Sityodtong or any MMA promoter out there would have some interest in bringing in someone like Northcutt at this stage.

As of right now, it’s just a matter of waiting to see who gives him the best offer.
