Tyron Woodley

Tyron Woodley realized his dream at UFC 201 this past Saturday night in Atlanta, when he defeated Robbie Lawler via first-round KO to claim the UFC’s welterweight championship.

Since claiming the title at UFC 201 many MMA fans and analysts have been debating who Woodley should fight in his first UFC title defense.

One of the obvious options is top contender Stephen Thompson. “Wonderboy” is currently riding a seven-fight win streak and has defeated fellow top contenders Rory McDonald and Johny Hendricks in his two most recent fights.

Another option for Woodley is former title challenger Nick Diaz. “The Stockton Slugger” was reinstated in to the UFC earlier today, this after serving his 18-month suspension. “The Chosen One” expressed his interest in a fight with Diaz shortly after defeating Lawler.

Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre is another option for Woodley. “GSP” told MMAFighting.com earlier today that “Yes” he was interested in a title fight with “The Chosen One”.

Finally, a key welterweight bout between Carlos Condit and Demian Maia at UFC 202 could potentially produce the UFC’s next welterweight title challenger. Maia is currently riding a five-fight win streak, while Condit is coming off a controversial split-decision loss to Robbie Lawler in his most recent octagon appearance.
