#1 UFC ranked lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov is not happy that he is not challenging Eddie Alvarez for the UFC lightweight title at UFC 205 in New York. Nurmagomedov feels he was “used” to set up the lightweight title fight between Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor, which will headline the UFC 205 card. Instead of fighting for the lightweight title, Nurmagomedov was given a fight against Michael Johnson, which the Russian says will be his last fight before he gets to the title.

#1 ranked UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov has been on quite the rollercoaster ride in regards to getting a fight. After it was initially reported that the UFC was targeting a lightweight title fight between Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez for the main event of UFC 205, UFC President Dana White then stated that it was Nurmagomedov who was being offered the title fight against Alvarez at UFC 205. Former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub was quick to explain the situation, revealing that Alvarez demanded too much money from the UFC for a fight with McGregor at the Madison Square Garden, and as a result the UFC gave him ‘The Eagle’ as an opponent instead.

This news, unsurprisingly, sent most of the fight game into a frenzy of excitement. Unfortunately, not everyone was thrilled with this news. Undefeated lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov falls into the small segment of the fight game that was disappointed by the news – but his disappointment is certainly understandable. He was, after all, recently promised a shot at Alvarez’s lightweight title by UFC President Dana White himself, only to have that promise yanked away with the booking of Alvarez vs. McGregor.

Friday afternoon in Russia, MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko fought former UFC light heavyweight Fabio Maldonado in the main event of EFN 50. After being dropped in the first round, Emelianenko went on to win the next two rounds, and ultimately win a majority decision. While some thought that the judges made the right call given that Emelianenko won the last two rounds, others thought that the decision as extremely controversial, and Emelianenko should have lost given that he was dominated the first round.
