VIDEO | Former UFC commentator Mike Goldberg has a classic reaction to Jon Jones’ UFC 214 win

By Tom Taylor - July 31, 2017

On Saturday night, the UFC touched down in beautiful Anaheim, California with the the ridiculously stacked UFC 214. This blockbuster card was headlined by a light heavyweight title showdown between reigning champ Daniel Cormier and former champ Jon Jones – two of the fiercest rivals in MMA.

Though Cormier had some success early on in the fight, Jones sent him crashing to the canvas mid-way through the third round with a thunderous head-kick. From there, Jones polished the champ off with a savage strafing of ground-strikes. Seconds later, he was being peeled off Cormier by veteran referee Big John McCarthy.

The light heavyweight title was once again his.

During this exciting fight, the broadcast booth was populated by a trio of Joe Rogan, John Anik and Dominick Cruz. Former Octagon play-by-play man Mike Goldberg, of course, was nowhere to be found, having been released by the UFC at the end of 2016. But that doesn’t mean he wasn’t watching.

In the wake of Jones’ win over Cormier, Goldberg posted a video to Twitter, in which he takes fans on a trip down memory lane with his patented “it is all over” catchphrase. Watch the video at the top of this post.

In this Twitter post, Goldberg also makes an argument that Jon Jones is the greatest fighter in MMA history. In his opinion, the fact that Jones’ only loss was a controversial disqualification over Matt Hamill puts him ahead of Anderson Silva in this race.

Goldberg followed up this Tweet with another, assuring that he has nothing but respect for Jon Jones’ opponent, Daniel Cormier.

Do you wish Mike Goldberg had been commentating Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier’s rematch?
