Tyron Woodley shares some wisdom with Darren Till backstage after UFC 228

By Tom Taylor - September 9, 2018

Last night, in the main event of UFC 228, UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley stepped into the Octagon to attempt to defend his title opposite undefeated contender Darren Till. Although Woodley actually entered the fight as an underdog, he won it decisively, dropping Till in the second round and finishing him with a choke. It was the British challenger’s first professional loss.

Post-fight, Tyron Woodley and Darren Till ran into one another back stage, where they shared a few words. Woodley, who is now 36, recounted his first loss, which occurred in a Strikeforce title fight with Nate Marquardt. He assured the 25-year-old Till that losses of this kind often help fighters reach new heights.

“I was 10-0 when I fought for my first world title,” Tyron Woodley said to Darren Till back stage (see their encounter in the video above). “I wouldn’t be here without that loss.”

While Darren Till is obviously disappointed by his failed title fight with Tyron Woodley, he does seem to in good spirits. Post-fight, the Brit issued a statement and assured he’ll be back very soon.
