UFC veteran Brandon Moreno has insisted that he is still motivated to win back the flyweight championship despite some setbacks.

When it comes to fan favorites in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Brandon Moreno is right up there with the best of them. He is a former two-time flyweight champion, he has a fan-friendly style, and he has a great personality and approach towards fighting.

Unfortunately, Moreno is 2-3 in his last five fights, including his first ever defeat via finish at the hands of Tatsuro Taira back in December. This Saturday, however, he will have the chance to bounce back into the win column when he goes head to head with rising prospect Lone’er Kavanagh in the main event of UFC Mexico City.

In a recent interview, Moreno wanted to make it crystal clear that he is still motivated by the possibility of becoming a three-time champ at 125 pounds.

Moreno is still motivated by UFC title pursuit

“I still feel the motivation to do it,” Moreno said in an interview with UFC.com. “I feel my abilities are enough to be the champion again. Right now, the competition is on fire with our new champion, with new contenders, younger fighters. Everything looks super nice right now for the flyweight division. But I still feel like I’m in the conversation. I still feel like I have enough abilities to fight for the title again, and I have to prove it.”

“He’s young. He’s the new blood of the division,” Moreno said of Kavanagh. “He’s going to come super motivated. He’s coming from a loss, so that puts something inside of your soul. He’s going to try to prove to himself and prove to the UFC he’s ready for the biggest stage, and he’s going to try to do the opposite here in Mexico City, but I’m ready.”
