Nong-O fired up to seize flyweight throne at ONE Friday Fights 147

Nong-O Hama has conquered Muay Thai at every level imaginable. On March 20, the 39-year-old Thai legend steps into the main event of ONE Friday Fights 147 to face undefeated 22-year-old Russian dynamo Asadula Imangazaliev for the vacant ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Championship, live in Asia primetime from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

The stakes couldn’t be higher for a man who spent years as the most dominant bantamweight Muay Thai king in ONE Championship history. Seven consecutive title defenses, a 267-win professional slate, and a career that has outlasted every generation of rival. Now he stands one fight from a second piece of gold in a second division. The enormity of that has sharpened everything.

He is also not alone. Superbon Training Camp teammate Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon challenges ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nabil Anane on the same card — two warriors from the same gym going to war simultaneously, with gold within reach for both.

“I’m giving this everything I’ve got. I want to give my fans something to cheer about again. Winning this World Title again would prove that age is just a number,” Nong-O said.

“It’s all about how you train, how you rest, and how you take care of your body. If you do those things right, you can succeed at any age.”

Nong-O has studied Imangazaliev and has a plan

The path here wasn’t smooth. Nong-O Hama lost a close split-decision to Kongthoranee Sor Sommai at ONE Fight Night 28 before avenging it convincingly in their rematch.

A scheduled title shot against Rodtang Jitmuangnon at ONE 173 in Tokyo was then canceled at the last moment, leaving him without a fight and without a chance at gold. He stayed in the gym and waited. Superbon himself — who shares Imangazaliev’s long, rangy build — has been the primary sparring partner to simulate the challenge ahead.

Imangazaliev arrives 11-0 with nine finishes and a $50,000 performance bonus already on his resume from stopping Kongthoranee in January. He is fast, physical, and built to close shows. Nong-O has watched every frame.

“Asadula is dangerous because he has a deep arsenal. His biggest advantage is his length — it makes him hard to reach,” he said.

“However, my edge in this fight will be my ring experience. I have far more experience, and I’ve studied his game thoroughly. The plan is to close the distance. I have to get inside and stay on him. I’m confident I can make that happen. My hunger for that belt is what’s going to drive me to victory.”

As for the shared stage with Rambolek, Nong-O has no doubt about how both fights end.

“We’re both going to win. We’ve been working so hard for this, and we’re going to bring those wins back to the gym to celebrate with everyone,” Nong-O said.
