Just Scrap Radio Ep 2 | Yves Edwards and Jens Pulver Breakdown Jones vs Evans

Scrap Radio host Jens Pulver dives right in…
By Lynn Mitchell:

“The main event Rashad Evans, Bones Jones they came at it- they had bad blood. And I think to me – I mean more props to Jones you can definitely see he started getting a rhythm. I love it – it seems like they were doing…  seems like they were doing the feats of strength and then he just pops an elbow and pops another elbow over the top and then the one thing I would’ve wished more of Rashad… I mean he had spirit over there on the corner Ben Archer is a great wrestler.  I thought you know hey we’re gonna see the wrestling side of Rashad Evans.  We’re gonna see the clincher but that just like I said when you’ve done ground for as long as you have sometimes that stand up is just so exciting – you kinda forget your wrestling base.  What do you think about that fight Yves?”

Yves Edwards:

“The wresting aspect of the fight didn’t – nobody really pressed it.  I think Rashad would’ve done well in that scenario because I’ve never seen anybody just stop Jon Jones’ takedown.  I’ve seen Ryan Bader get shot in – shot on from a low single from outside – no actually it was a double but it was really far out and Bader who’s an All American high level wrestler who was taken by this guy who a probably been an All American Wrestler if he wrestled at a division 1 school at the same time.  I think Rashad should’ve pressed the wrestling action you know.  I think going into that fight he might have been – I think he was in Jones’ head a little bit as a big brother but you know that moment.  I don’t know if Abel’s ever beat you up yet but if he has that’s the day when he starts to win a fight against you that’s the day he’s like I got it now I’m just gonna keep pushing it, pushing it and pushing it because once you get that big brother mentality out of your head it’s hard to get that back on.  It’s hard for a big brother to take that back.”

What’s next for Yves Edwards?

“I wanna go back so bad.  My last fight was Dec 3 against Tony Furgeson & I thought it was a better fight than the judges did….

I love fighting guys like that – young guys that are gonna to push me.  Guys with a whole new skill set.  These kids have chins now a days.  I’ve never kicked somebody in the head 3x and them look at me like I’m stupid.  I wanna get back in there and get tough guys like that.  Hopefully it’s gonna be soon.

Unfortunately, I’m getting over an injury I tore my bicep in February just getting through the end of my rehab now.  Hopefully I’ll be able to get back to the gym at about 85-100% in the next week.  Take 2 more weeks at that pace and just go all out and get all crazy.  Hopefully, I can get back in there late July – August try to take somebody’s head off old school style”
