UFC FN 61 Results: Andrade Picks Up Win Over Gibson

By bjpenndotcom - February 22, 2015

Douglas Silva wins

Douglas Silva de Andrade and Cody Gibson opened up the Fox Sports 1 portion of the preliminary fight with their three round war. Both Andrade and Gibson threw caution to the wind and threw bombs from the get-go. A lot of missed strikes led to signs of early fatigue from both fighters, but that didn’t slow down the pace of the fight in round two.

Gibson suffered a knockout-scare in the second round when he got dropped by a stiff right jab in the opening minute. Andrade cut off Gibson’s combination with a right hand but could not capitalize as Gibson made it back to his feet and ultimately the end of the round.

Round three was about as close as it could get. Gibson was active and fought like a mad-man, refusing to slow down his output of strikes. However, Andrade stuck his ground and picked his shots and was more consistent in landing his combinations.

Andrade earned the unanimous decision victory after the judges’ decision was announced.

Douglas Silva de Andrade def Cody Gibson by way of Unanimous Decision (29-28, 30-27, 29-28)
