UFC 157 Results: Fighters Deliver In Historic Event | UFC NEWS

By BJPENN.COM News - February 23, 2013

Tonight at Anaheim’s Honda Center the UFC held its first ever bout contested between two female athletes.

In the main event Ronda Rousey successfully defended her title for the first time and earned the right to finally call herself a UFC Champion.

Challenger Liz Carmouche put made a valiant effort and put Rousey in a compromising position early, but the champion persevered and finished the bout via her signature arm bar in the very first round.

In the co-main event a pivotal light-heavyweight fight went down between Lyoto Machida and Dan Henderson. After 15-minutes of action Machida walked away the victor via split-decision. The victory likely sets him up for a second shot against UFC champion Jon Jones.

The rest of the card was packed with entertaining bouts that surely left the California crowd feeling the night was more than worth the price of admission.
