Rory MacDonald vs. Jake Ellenberger set for UFC on FOX 8

By Julien Solomita - April 11, 2013

After an injury layoff, UFC welterweight Rory MacDonald will next face Jake Ellenberger at Seattle’s upcoming Fox card. Carlos Condit was set to rematch MacDonald (14-1, 5-1 UFC), but the Canadian welterweight pulled out with a neck injury. MacDonald’s last fight was a dominant unanimous decision victory over former champion BJ Penn.

Ellenberger (29-6, 8-2 UFC) is coming off  a very impressive knockout victory over Nate Marquardt at UFC 158. This fight will mark just one of many exciting welterweight match-ups in the near future. If MacDonald wins impressively enough he may put himself in a position to challenge for the title. The title is currently held by his close friend and teammate Georges St. Pierre, whom MacDonald has said he has no interest in fighting.

UFC on FOX 8 will be at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington Saturday, July 27th.
