May’s UFC Fight Night event in Cincinnati gets Soa Palelei vs. Ruan Potts

UFC officials recently announced that the promotion will return to Cincinnati this May for a ‘Fight Night’ event.

The event received it’s first official bout today, as UFC executives announced that heavyweights Soa Palelei (20-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) and Ruan Potts (8-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will meet in the octagon on May 10 in Ohio.

Soa “The Hulk” Palelei has gone a perfect 2-0 under the Zuffa banner since returning to the UFC in August of 2013. Palelei defeated Nikita Krylov via TKO in his promotional return at UFC 164 in Milwaukee. “The Hulk” followed up that victory by smashing Pat Barry into MMA retirement at Decemeber’s “UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Bigfoot” event. The Australian has now won 10 straight fights, with his last defeat coming at the hands of Daniel Cormier in November of 2010.

Palelei will now face the rating EFC Heavyweight Champion Ruan Potts. Potts will make his UFC debut on the heels of a 3-fight win streak he put together while with the South African based promotion. All eight of Potts victories have come by some form of stoppage.

The UFC’s return to ‘Cincy’ is set to go down May 10 live from the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio.
