Ludwig Shocked Team Alpha Male Departure Went Public

By BJPENN.COM News - March 20, 2014

Last night we learned that, Team Alpha Male, one of the most successful teams in MMA, is losing their head coach.

On Fox Sports 1’s ‘UFC Tonight’ show, the broadcast team announced that Duane Ludwig is set to leave the Sacramento fight teams side in favor of something new.

In a recent interview with MMAJunkie.com, Ludwig expressed his concern for the way the news was handled.

“It wasn’t fucking supposed to be like this, man. I’m not going to bounce on anybody’s fight camp. Then he fucking went and told the team and did a press release before I knew. I’m like, ‘What the hell?’ That’s why it was a bit sudden, because I was just giving Urijah the heads up; I didn’t really have much planned. I think he kind of jumped (the gun).”

Following up those comments, Duane discussed his plans going forward in an interview with MMAWeekly.com.

“I’ve really had a great time coaching at Team Alpha Male, and we’re leaving things on great terms, but my heart has always been in Colorado. I have plans to return home and open my own martial arts academy. I love the guys at Team Alpha Male and have formed some tight bonds, but I need to be home in Colorado. It is just time to do my own thing and build my own business.”
