Lil Nog Targets December Return, Wants a Fight With Rampage

By Chris Taylor - September 3, 2015

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (21-7 MMA) is looking to rebound, this after suffering a unanimous decision loss to former UFC title holder Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at last month’s UFC 190 pay-per-view event in Brazil.

The 39-year-old veteran is eyeing a December return to the octagon and has his sights set on another former UFC champion, his words via Lancenet:

“I think Rampage would be a great fight for me. He comes at you, likes to exchange strikes.” Nogueira told Lancenet. “He makes beautiful fights and I think he matches up well with me for that style of fight. I will probably be back in December. I even thought of being on this Sao Paulo card in November, but that one is pretty much filled and I did not get the call. Vitor Belfort and Glover Teixeira will be there, so I should fight in December. I had a good fight against Mauricio Rua and I’d like to keep going like this out of competitiveness.”

If “Lil Nog” ends up fighting again before year’s end, it would mark the first time since 2011 that he has competed multiple times inside a calendar year.

Nogueira is coming off back-to-back losses against Anthony Johnson (via KO) and the aforementioned “Shogun” Rua. His last win came in February of 2013, where he scored an upset victory over former UFC champion Rashad Evans.
