“I had all this time that I’ve been hurt and haven’t been able to go out there and do what I want to do to compete because I’ve been hurt. So until I can go out there and show what I can do, I don’t have a whole lot to say about myself. I’m about the divisions and the fighting, and I just love this sport. So I’ll be back, it’s a guarantee. I love it too much not to. I’m just trying to get healthy.”
The former UFC bantamweight champion has been sitting idle on the sidelines for over two-years while the UFC and his division have slowly moved past him.
Undefeated as a bantamweight, Cruz, was/is arguably the best 135 pound fighter on the planet, but after multiple injuries the former champ is just done talking.
Can you blame him?
Cruz was scheduled to face Renan Barao at UFC 169 before he was plagued with another fight canceling injury. Once out, the UFC opted to hand over the UFC bantamweight title to Barao.
