Joe Lauzon Tired Of Excuses From Guilliard | I Slapped You With My Fist And Choked You Out!!

“Whenever I see Melvin he is always super nice you know, before the fight and after the fight he is always ‘Hey how you doing?’ always really friendly. But then in interviews I see [him say] ‘Well Joe didn’t beat me, I beat myself.’

It’s like no, I slapped you in the face with my fist and then you went down and I choked you. I’m pretty sure I am taking credit for that.

I kind of feel we set the gameplan for beating Melvin. You come forward you don’t act scared of him and let him get off and he kind of falls apart a little bit. That’s exactly how Miller went. Our fights were almost identical… It’s like, how do you lose two fights in the exact same way? What kind of progress or improvement did Melvin show since when I fought him?”(Check out the full video interview on page 2)

Taking to the best Mixed Martial Arts podcast in the land, Joe Lauzon told MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani that he does not appreciate the excusesMelvin Guillard made after their fight.

Joe Lauzon fights Anthony Pettis this weekend at UFC 144 in Japan.

da bruvas dont like losin fights to white boys…its the only thing worse than gettin drunked on by a white boy…it sorta ****s up the whole white people are scared of black people myth…lol

  2. e says:

you know dat joe! keep doing your thing!

  3. Tim says:

I understand where Joe’s coming from. I would hate to be put in that position. Joe won hands down. Guillard did NOT beat himself.

  4. Pijan says:

Joe kicked that ass. Been a fan of Joes since he beat Pulver, he’ll hold a belt before he’s done.

  5. Pijan says:

Guillard has a knack for tapping out.

  6. joshuah says:

I don’t blame Joe, this is the first significant fight he won without illegal things going on (its not on purpose but his wild style Joe ALWAYS does some sort of illegal maneuver)

But yeah Melvin called him out then lost, he’s never been disrespectful, just say he beat me, don’t make excuses!

I think Melvin would beat him the majority of the time, but that’s what egos do they get big & get deflated. Hope he doesnt overlook ne1 else, never understood y Joe is the Guy to overlook anyway. Just silly

  7. MMACRAVER says:

Joe surprised me at how fast he took care of Guillard.

He deserves every bit of credit for that.

He most certainly did wobble Melvin with a shot first.

Guillard’s response/reaction to his defeat is disgusting and pathetic.

CONGRATS J-LO! MY GF LAUGHS AT YOUR NICKNAME BUT YOU TOUGH AS SHIT APPARENTLY BRAH!!!

  9. mma is my religion. says:

Melvin needs to just say Joe kicked my ass.

  10. Dick Diaz says:

Joe Lauzon speaking the truth! WAR LAUZON!

  11. learntoread says:

I hope Lauzon puts an ass whoppin’ on Pettis (another fighter too cocky for his own good).

  12. McLovin says:

I am not impressed with your performance!

  13. MMA Knowitall says:

Guillard drives me nuts. Lauzon went toe to toe, saw his opening, fired a counter and then did what everyone else (Diaz / Miller / Stevenson / Clementi) did; sunk in a choke with minimal resistance. Next he’ll be saying it’s his neck’s fault for not defending itself. This dude could’ve been damn good if he had actual confidence and humility instead of a brazen ego. Without the athleticism and power punching he’d be in the bush leagues somewhere.

  14. MMA Knowitall says:

Guillard drives me nuts. Next he’ll be blaming his neck for not defending itself. Take the explosive athleticism away and he’d be stuck in the bush leagues.
