Carano empathizes with Rousey following KO loss

Back in the main event of UFC 193 Holly Holm put on a flawless performance against Ronda Rousey that saw her ultimately claim the UFC women’s bantamweight championship after a head kick left Rousey out cold on the canvas.

One woman who understands the pain Rousey is going through is WMMA pioneer Gina Carano. Carano went 7-0 in MMA before being TKO’d by Cris Cyborg back in 2009 for the Strikeforce championship.

Carano spoke to Fox Sports to discuss why she empathizes with Rousey:

“My heart truly does feel for Ronda. I know what it’s like to get beat, on a very public scale and not do even 25-percent of what you know you can. I know what it’s like to want to do so damn good for all the people who found inspiration in your life and what you’ve done and almost want to do it more for them than yourself.

“I hope she surrounds herself with love and light to heal the brokenness she might feel. It can only make her better in every way if she allows it.”

In the future, the UFC brass has made it clear that they want to see a Holm vs. Rousey rematch at UFC 200, but only time will tell if Rousey will be medically cleared to fight at the event.
