Sorry Demetrious Johnson, but it looks like you have to get to the back of the Conor McGregor line.
With his impressive 10th consecutive title defense over the weekend tying Anderson Silva for the record of most consecutive title defenses, “Mighty Mouse” is still looking for his big money fight. Johnson told TMZ that the big fight to make to get him a seven-figure payday would be against McGregor.
TMZ also caught up with UFC President Dana White who was asked about the potential superfight between Johnson and McGregor.
“Conor McGregor has got a long line of people waiting on him,” White said.
White was then asked if he thinks there is a chance that the match could be made and was hesitant at first but didn’t completely rule it out.
“Umm, no. I don’t see that one,” White said. “Listen, I didn’t think that Nate Diaz was going to fight either. Anything is possible. We’ll see.”
“I never say never, but no, that’s not what I’m looking at. I’m actually looking at him (Johnson) to go to Seattle to break the record if he can win that fight and obviously not against Conor McGregor.
“McGregor-Mayweather is probably going to happen. So, I’m working on that. I’m focused on that and that’s what they both want. I gotta start negotiating with Team Mayweather. We’ll see how that goes.”
