Conor McGregor receives punishment at NAC hearing

On Tuesday morning, the Nevada Athletic Commission met to determine the fates of Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Jon Jones. McGregor and Nurmagomedov were being disciplined for the brawl that broke out after their UFC 229 fight, which also involved McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis, and Nurmagomedov’s teammates Zubaira Tukhugov and Abubakar Nurmagomedov. The brawl sparked when Nurmagomedov leapt over the cage and attacked Danis, and continued when McGregor swapped punches with Tukhugov and Nurmagomedov inside the cage.

Colby Covington is not very happy with the UFC right now. In fact, the former UFC interim welterweight champion is so disgruntled that he recently dared the promotion to release him from his contract so he can take his services elsewhere. Some of Covington’s recent comments about potentially leaving the UFC, however, were misconstrued, as some members of the MMA community took his words to mean that he wanted to fight Rory MacDonald in Bellator. Conor McGregor is a proud Irishman, so you’d think he’d be able to spell ‘St. Paddy’s Day’ correctly. Unfortunately, the Irishman — or more likely, whoever runs his Twitter account — made a pretty major error in a recent Tweet, spelling it ‘St. Patty’s Day.’ Image via MMAjunkie Although this Tweet was quickly deleted and replaced with one that included that proper spelling of St. Paddy’s day, it was already too late. The fans let Conor McGregor have it. The Internet is a cruel and unforgiving place.

On Tuesday, January 29, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) is to hold a hearing for the likes of Conor McGregor, and UFC champions Khabib Nurmagomedov and Jon Jones. However, as the Las Vegas Review-Journal has reported, McGregor and Nurmagomedov will no longer be present at the hearing as they have reached settlement agreements with the NSAC in regards to their post-fight brawl at UFC 229 on October 6.

UFC 229 generated record-breaking economic impact for Las Vegas

Press Release — UFC today announced that UFC 229: KHABIB vs. MCGREGOR generated $86.4 million in economic impact for the Las Vegas metropolitan area, according to a study conducted by research firm Applied Analysis. This marks the largest economic impact for a single UFC event measured globally to date. UFC 229: KHABIB vs. MCGREGOR, which took place on Saturday, October 6, at T-Mobile Arena, set new records for attendance (20,034) and ticket revenue ($17,188,894) for UFC in Las Vegas. In addition to the $86.4 million in total economic output, the study concluded that the landmark event also contributed $17.2 million in salaries and wagesand supported an estimated 414 jobs in the Southern Nevada market. Visitors attending events related to UFC 229: KHABIB vs. MCGREGOR were responsible for an estimated $3.7 million in public revenues in Nevada.
