Yu Yau Pui Gunning For Knockout Against Anna Jaroonsak At ONE Fight Night 41: ‘I’ll Get Inside And Break Her Down’

Yu Yau Pui is heading back to ONE Fight Night 41 on Prime Video with a point to prove. The 33-year-old Hong Kong southpaw faces Thai striker Anna “Supergirl” Jaroonsak in a three-round atomweight Muay Thai bout on March 13, live in U.S. primetime from Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium.

Yu owns a 6-2 promotional record, built on five straight wins before back-to-back losses to Amy Pirnie and Martyna Dominczak. Those defeats exposed real gaps in her game — defensive lapses and an over-reliance on her punching — and she has spent this camp fixing both. The KF 1 representative arrives with new weapons and sharper awareness.

“I was very excited when I got the call from ONE Championship. I can’t wait to showcase how much I have improved this time. I’m a little bit nervous. I’ve put in a lot of effort, and I hope I can really do my best inside the ring,” she said.

“Maybe I was rushing too much and overlooked a lot of things. For example, I didn’t protect myself properly. That’s why I got knocked out [against Amy Pirnie]. [I realized that] besides my punches, I need to improve my other weapons, like my kicks, to become a more multi-dimensional fighter instead of relying only on my punches. I hope this time I can truly show how much my style has improved.”

The losses have cut deeper than just the record. Yu Yau Pui has watched peers from her 2023 ONE signing class — Nabil Anane, Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon, and Phetjeeja — go on to capture titles while she slipped off the pace. The gap is real, and she knows it.

Anna Jaroonsak brings a 40-7 professional record and three ONE victories into this fight. Her spear knees and long reach make her dangerous from distance — qualities Yu has dissected carefully during camp. The Hong Kong native’s counter-plan is simple: outlast her.

“I think when I look back at the fighters that ONE Championship signed in the same year, 2023, most of them have achieved a lot. For example, Nabil, Rambolek, and Phetjeeja — they have already achieved so much. They have their belts, and they have their title fights. For me, I once believed I had the chance, but I fell twice. This time, I really hope that I can go back to the winning column,” she said.

“I know that she’s a very tough fighter. I believe she has a signature move — her knees. She’s strong, and she has good hands too. I think she may be taller than me, and her reach is longer. That’s why she can throw very long-distance knee strikes.”

“I believe my endurance will be better than hers, so I’ll be waiting to see if there’s a loophole. When the time is right, I’ll get inside and break her down. I think every fighter in every fight wants to win by knockout. With the 4-ounce gloves, you have to be careful every single moment. Of course, I’m looking for a knockout, but I’ll just do my best inside the ring.”
