World Series of Fighting will bring us another night of what should be exciting fights this Friday night. WSOF 23 goes down in Phoenix, Arizona and will air on NBCSN. The main card will feature not one, but two titles on the line. In the co-main event we’ll get to see who walks away with the inaugural light heavyweight title when current middleweight champ David Branch goes up to meet Teddy Holder.

Mixed Martial Arts veteran Joey Beltran (16-11 MMA) made his middleweight debut at April’s Bellator 136 event, where he scored a unanimous decision victory over Brian Rogers. “The Mexicutioner” is set to return to action later this month when he battles Kendall Grove in the co-main event of Bellator 143.

The tournament will determine the next 205 title challenger and will feature, ‘King Mo’, Phil Davis, Emanuel Newton and Linton Vassell. After the night is over we’ll know which two men will fight for the title next, as the title is on the line in the main event, with current champ Liam McGeary taking on MMA legend Tito Ortiz.

This Saturday at Bellator ‘Dynamite’ ‘The Huntington Beach Bad Boy’ will look to capture the light heavyweight title from the current champ, Liam McGeary. Ortiz is currently riding a two fight win streak, with wins over Stephan Bonnar and former Bellator middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko.

Everyone has an opinion on UFC fighter Nick Diaz’s controversial five year suspension, handed down by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The support for Diaz has been impressive to say the least. Just about every fighter has come out and shown that they think it’s ridiculous that he was given such a harsh punishment. Even UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey took a moment during her big UFC 193 press conference to go off on the NSAC about their decision.

In the co-main, WSOF middleweight champion David Branch will drop down and look to earn a second title when he fights Teddy Holder for the inaugural light heavyweight title. In the main event we’ll get an epic rematch between lightweight champion Justin Gaethje and Luis Palomino. The two are coming off of a first fight with each other and look to put on another entertaining war.

The promotion didn’t hold back and brought out all the big guns to help promote the event. At recent media event, MMA legends Royce Gracie and Kazushi Sakuraba posed for pictures, and even tied up, giving the fans a ‘Did that just happen’ moment!

UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk has been absolutely dominant, especially in her last two fights, where she dethroned Carla Esparza and beat up challenger Jessica Penne. She’s now set to co-headline UFC 193 and will take on Valerie Letourneau, a fellow striker, in a five round scrap. Not a lot of fans know much about Letourneau, but Joanna has spoken and said her opponent fully deserves the title shot. However, if Joanna shows up like she did the last few fights, it’s hard to imagine anyone taking her out.

Former Strikeforce lightweight champion and UFC fighter Josh Thomson will get to make his Bellator MMA debut in front of his home crowd, in San Jose, CA. He’ll be fighting Mike Bronzoulis at this Saturday’s historic Bellator ‘Dynamite’ event. It will be the first of its kind, featuring both a cage for MMA fights and a ring for GLORY kickboxing matches right next to each other in the same venue.

Good news, all the fighters in this Saturday’s Bellator ‘Dynamite’ tournament have passed their out-of-competition drug tests. The news comes from California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) executive officer Andy Foster. The tournament will include Phil Davis, King Mo Lawal, Emanuel Newton and Linton Vassell. The winner of the tournament will be crowned tournament champ and will be next in line for a shot at the light heavyweight title.

Former Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson most recently fought for the UFC. Now, in his next fight, he’ll be in the Bellator MMA cage. Thomson fought four times in the UFC but will now test the waters in a new promotion. There was some controversy surrounding his departure from the UFC. The promotion came out and said they released Thomson, while the fighter says that’s simply not the case, he chose to look elsewhere.
