Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo is fresh off of his UFC 194 KO loss to Conor McGregor, and currently has no plans set for his next fight. Conor McGregor on the other hand has been booked to move up to lightweight at UFC 197 and challenge Rafael dos Anjos for the UFC lightweight championship. While McGregor claims that RDA is a traitor to Brazil, Jose Aldo says there is no way he would fight his fellow countryman, and there’s no way McGregor leaves UFC 197 with the lightweight strap.

Northcutt’s original lightweight opponent Andrew Holbrook has been forced out of competition. Bryan Barbarena has stepped in to fight Northcutt on short notice as the scheduled event in Newark, New Jersey nears on Jan. 31. Barbarena holds a professional record of 10-3 and is 1-1 in the UFC.
