It’s been just 4 months since TJ Dillashaw lost the UFC bantamweight championship to Dominick Cruz in Boston in January, but it appears as though the former champ is looking to return to the Octagon sooner rather than later. According to Megan Olivi, Dillashaw could wind up fighting on UFC 200 on July 9th against Raphael Assuncao. Assuncao was the last man to defeat Dillashaw before Cruz did in January. The loss to Assuncao was a controversial one, with Dillashaw losing via razor thin split decision.

The UFC just announced a fight that has “Fight of the Night” written all over it with Edson Barboza taking on Gilbert Melendez at UFC on FOX 20. Other fights that are reported to be in the works for the event taking place July 23 in Chicago, Illinois include Anthony “Rumble” Johnson vs. Glover Teixeira and Holly Holm vs. Valentina Shevchenko.

At UFC 197 Edson Barboza picked up the biggest win of his professional career as he defeated former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis via unanimous decision. The win was a dominant one for Barboza, as he out-struck Showtime throughout the course of the fight, dealing a severe amount of damage to Pettis’ legs throughout the 3 round bout.

There has been a bit of a rivalry between former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell and current interim light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Liddell has gone on record to say that he is not a fan of Jones’ fighting style and said that he would have knocked Jones out back when he was in the prime of his career.

While the #runningmanchallenge is going viral on the Internet, Conor McGregor has one person running on his mind and that person is Nate Diaz. McGregor had his first UFC loss served to him by Diaz at UFC 196. The two were scheduled to rematch at UFC 200, but McGregor refused to take part in media obligations to promote the event and was pulled from the card. “The Notorious” stated that he needed to concentrate on training for the rematch with Diaz instead of promoting the fight.

Since Michael Bisping defeated Anderson Silva in the main event of ‘UFC London’ back in February, there has been much speculation as to where Bisping falls in the UFC middleweight title picture. While Yoel Romero became the #1 contender at middleweight after defeating Jacare Souza at UFC 194, a failed drug test has landed Romero a 6 month suspension. The way Bisping sees is, he has earned the right to fight the winner of UFC 199’s Rockhold vs. Weidman rematch.

Bisping, who is coming off a unanimous decision win over Anderson Silva in London, is looking to face the winner of UFC 199’s middleweight title fight between Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman.

While the UFC took the brunt of the blowback for Conor McGregor refusing to fulfill his media obligations for UFC 200, the promotion wasn’t the only one affected by McGregor’s standoff with the UFC. Co-headliner Miesha Tate, who will look to defend her UFC women’s bantamweight championship against Amanda Nunes in the co-main event, had to step in on short notice to film an extra promo segment after McGregor refused to show up. She explained on her podcast that her, Jose Aldo, and Frankie Edgar were all slated to film promo segments for UFC 200. When Conor McGregor no-showed, the production team begged Tate to return later in the day and miss a training session in order to film an extra promo. Tate agreed, and ultimately ended up missing a practice session as a result of the filming.
