Marlon Vera’s coach believes Sean O’Malley rivalry will continue after UFC 299: “No clock? Chito goes to jail for murder!”

Marlon Vera’s coach believes their rivalry with bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley will continue after UFC 299.

Sean O'Malley and Marlon Vera

Jason Parillo is a world renowned head coach at the RVCA Sport Training Centre, in Costa Mesa, California. A former professional boxer himself, Parillo went on to coach big name MMA fighters including the likes of BJ Penn, Michael Bisping, Cris Cyborg, Rafael Dos Anjos, Tito Ortiz and of course Marlon Vera.

It all began when Parillo trained BJ Penn in 2007 and to date he is best known for training multiple MMA world champions.

It was Marlon Vera (23-9 MMA) who took on current champion Sean O’Malley (18-1 MMA) in a bantamweight title bout at UFC 299 last weekend. The result was a unanimous decision victory for ‘Suga’.

It was the second meeting of the two, as they had previously fought back in August of 2020 at UFC 252 which saw ‘Chito’ TKO O’Malley at 4:40 of Round 1.

Taking to Instagram, Parillo celebrated his fighter’s efforts and has no doubt there will be a Vera vs. O’Malley III:

“Couldn’t be prouder of my fighter (Marlon Vera)! He competed for the UFC world title! Representing his country Ecuador and every hard working man that doesn’t give up! Chito 1-1 now with this kid! The kid got the decision and retained the title! Chito got the knock out in the first fight. With no clock? Chito goes to jail for murder! #godbless”

In character for Parillo, he acknowledged his pride at Marlon Vera’s accomplishments at UFC 299, but the ‘no clock’ and ‘murder’ commentary is seemingly a bit surprising for the esteemed coach.

Would you like to see a trilogy fight between ‘Chito’ and ‘Suga’ in the future?
