Dana White has often been very vocal when it comes to testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) use in the UFC, chastising fighters for using the therapy. The fighters who apply for testosterone use exemption (TUE) for a fight are often shoved in to the limelight as we wait for word to come down on whether or not they have been approved to use TRT prior to their next bout.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has officially announced its plans for the highly anticipated ‘Fight Night 29’ event in Brazil. Set to take place on October 9 at the Jose Correa Arena in Barueri, Sao Paulo, Brazil, ‘UFC Fight Night 29: Maia vs. Shields’ will air on Fox Sports 1 and feature a welterweight clash between Jake Shields and Demian Maia in the evenings main event.

According the reports UFC featherweight fighter, Cole Miller, is looking to appeal his Saturday night decision loss to Many Gamburyan due to referee Yves Lavigne’s awkward first-round moment that gave Gamburyan a lengthy recovery period after questionable elbow strikes that were deemed legal blows after review. At the culmination of the first round, the additional recovery time should have instead resulted in a TKO victory for Cole but that isn’t the way it played out.

“I have 11 years in MMA and Vale Tudo, I won everything I always wanted. I achieved everything I dreamed, but I want to do that again. I still want many victories; I still want to become the world champion again. Who decides when I will stop [fighting] or not is myself, no one else. Thank God I’m financially stable, and I keep fighting because I love it…. I’m a really competitive guy, who hates to be defeated. I know I did everything I should have done during my preparation, but Sonnen was better on the fight. Unfortunately, in the fight [business], we have to wait a lot to return and bounce back…. I’ll get back home, see what went wrong on the fight and train hard to make sure that mistake won’t happen again.” Former UFC light-heavyweight champion and MMA legend, Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua released this statement (via mmafighting.com) to proclaim that he is not done and still hopes to recapture championship status before hanging them up.

Former UFC light-heavyweight champion, Mauricio Rua suffered his first two-fight losing streak of his career as he lost to Chael Sonnen last Saturday at the inaugural UFC on FOX Sports 1 card, on which he headlined. ‘Shogun’ didn’t resemble the fighter that made him a champion in Pride and the UFC. Instead, he was handled by Sonnen and choked out in the first round after threatening with barely any offense save for a takedown that resulted in little more than speed bump for Sonnen.

His most recent setback came at the hands of John Howard at this past weekends UFC on FOX Sports 1 debut where he lost via split decision in a fight that many feel was one that he didn’t apply himself too.
