“I’m a friend of A-Rod’s. I was diagnosed a couple years ago with Meniere’s disease, which is damage to the nerve, and A-Rod called me and said, ‘I went to this place in Dusseldorf, Germany. Kobe Bryant sent me there.’ You know, you look at the list of athletes and people, Pope John Paul went there. And you have to be referred to this place to get in. He referred me to get in and completely changed my life. So for all the negative things that are on A-Rod right now, the guy has done some good things too. I like him and have a lot of respect for him.”

Despite losing two straight fights inside the Octagon, former two-time UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir (16-7 MMA, 14-7 UFC) isn’t ready to throw in the towel on his championship dream. Mir’s most recent octagon effort resulted in a unanimous decision loss to Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix winner Daniel Cormier at April’s UFC on FOX: Melendez vs. Henderson event. Prior to the Cormier bout, Mir was TKO’d in his bid to recapture the UFC heavyweight title by then champion Junior dos Santos at UFC 146.

Chan Sung Jung (13-4 MMA, 3-1 UFC) may have to wait a bit longer than originally expected to get back into the UFC featherweight title hunt, as his manager Brian Rhee informed MMAFighting.com that “TKZ” could be out of action for up to a full year while he recovers from surgeries he had to repair his seperated shoulder and broken orbital bone.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida (19-4 MMA, 11-4 UFC) will make his middleweight debut this November when he takes on military hero Tim Kennedy (16-4 MMA, 1-0 UFC) at the UFC’s third “Fight for the Troops” show. UFC President Dana White announced the fight late Wednesday evening on “FOX Sports Live.”
