Silva Defends Fighting Style: "I Always Have To Be Me'
BJPENN.COM News - December 27, 2013
“There was one more thing: I learned that I have to be myself. I always have to be me… From the moment that a fight ends, that fight is in the past, win or lose. Even when I was winning my fights, once it’s over, it’s over. It’s in the past, and you’ve got to look forward. It’s no different with this fight. When it was over, it was over, and now I’m looking forward to the next one. It’s definitely a big fight. It’s an important fight. It’s something people have been waiting to watch. They want confirmation that Chris is the real deal. But a fight is a fight. All that changes is the date and the opponent. The octagon is still the same, and the atmosphere is always the same. I don’t think I have anything to prove to anyone, but I’m very motivated.” Often criticized for the way he toys with his foe’s inside the cage, Anderson Silva tells MMaJunkie.com during this week’s UFC 168 media event that he has to stay true to himself, even if that means going against his critics wishes.
Miesha Tate 'Really Thankful For Rousey Rivalry
BJPENN.COM News - December 27, 2013
“Ronda said some things that really got under my skin. She plays the mental warfare game. I didn’t want to fight her because I love fighting; I wanted to fight her because I wanted to beat her up. The biggest thing for me is just remembering to be myself, be on an even keel, and not allow anyone, particularly Ronda, to make me emotional. Really, that’s been the biggest change. I’m really thankful that Ronda has been a part of my life and career. Is she my favorite person on a personal level? No. Do I appreciate the fact that I’m a better person because she’s been a part of my life? Absolutely. Do I think I’m a better fighter for having her in my life? Without a doubt. Most of the credit of where women’s MMA is at this point has to go to (Rousey). But I do want to change that. I would like to be more of a part of it. I would also like to do that with a smile on my face. She can choose to handle my actions however she wants. But I’m doing what I do, and I’m not going to let Ronda dictate that.”

Tyron Woodley Wants Nick Diaz Removed From The Rankings
BJPENN.COM News - December 26, 2013
“The guy is retired. His return might be pending, but according to me, he’s still retired. I don’t believe he should be in the rankings. If you say you’re retired, you should come out of the rankings. Until you’re back in there competing, I don’t think it’s fair to ask people like myself, who’s been fighting tooth and nail to get into the top 10, just to have a shot at one of the top five guys. I think Nick Diaz has done a lot for the sport, but I feel he’s letting his legacy be sealed tight with what he’s already accomplished. I don’t really think we’ll see him fight again. It definitely worked out to my benefit that he turned down the rematch, for sure. I’m just the squeaky wheel, yelling as loud as I can, begging to be heard. In this game, closed mouths don’t get fed. Lazy pigs don’t get no slop. I think Diaz has done what he set out to do. He’s an amazing fighter that’s surrounded in controversy. He sold a lot of pay-per-views and tickets. I haven’t done that yet. I’m just waiting for the person that’s brave enough to take the risk to fight a guy that’s not in the top 10 yet.”

Anderson Silva: Dana White Is The George Bush of MMA
BJPENN.COM News - December 26, 2013
“I think that Dana could let me tryout in taekwondo for the 2016 Olympic Games and let me fight Roy, but if he let me do that, he would need to let other fighters do their things, so he would lose control. [Dana White] is a big dad, but we have our fights all the time. He’s the Bush of MMA.”

Thomson Breaks Down 'Chess Match' Against Benson Henderson
BJPENN.COM News - December 26, 2013
“With Pettis I felt like I had a good game plan for the first four or five weeks of my camp, and I felt that there’s a lot more room in his game that I can exploit and win. Benson is more of a chess match. I have to play chess, and it’s a who can get there first kind of thing with him. I have to be careful with him. He’s good on the ground, he’s got good wrestling, and he is southpaw. Those are the things you have to be ready and prepare for.”
