Iuri Alcantara is coming fresh off a loss against UFC Bantamweight star Urijah Faber. The fight took place in August 2013 and Alcantra lost by way of unanimous decision. Wilson Reis, on the other hand, won his last fight at UFC 165 in New Jersey. He defeated Ivan Menjivar by way of unanimous decision in a dominant performance.

The first round between Alcantara and Tumenov was extremely close. It looked like Tumenov was running away with the fight after he was pounding his fists into the face of Alcantara, but Alcantara displayed amazing jiu-jitsu defense and got back to his feet where he started to take control of the fight. He secured a second takedown and landed some ground and pound of his own. Tumenov’s performance was a bit more dominant and he had more top time, so he may have been awarded the first round.

“He’s a smart fighter. He lures you in, and even though he doesn’t do a whole lot, what he does, he does well. I just have to be calm and not get irritated. The stand-up I’m not worried about. I will do just fine there, and on the ground also. I just have to fight smart. At middleweight, I don’t see anyone that I cannot beat. I feel comfortable fighting against any opponent. After this fight, I’d prefer to fight more of a stand up fighter, but first, I have to get through Machida. I want to stay at 185 now that I’m in the UFC. I could see maybe taking a big fight at light heavy if they really needed me to, but that’s the only way. I don’t really want to be going up and down. I just want to focus on one division, and that’s middleweight.”

A featherweight bout between Clay Guida and Tatsuya Kawajiri has been added to the UFC’s upcoming return to Abu Dhabi. Some outlets are reporting that this bout is to take place at lightweight, however BJPENN.COM confirmed that both fighters will stay inside the UFC’s 145-pound division and face off as featherweight’s.

At December’s UFC on FOX 9 event, lightweights Cody McKenzie and Sam Stout  faced off inside the octagon. “Hands of stone” ended up winning a lopsided decision over the former “TUF  12” competitor (McKenzie) that evening. However, it was Cody that would catch most of the media attention after the event, and for all the wrong reasons.
