AKA Boss: Cormier & Cain Both Beat Jon Jones

BJPENN.COM News - April 30, 2014

“Out of everybody that Jones has fought, Daniel’s going to be the one that’s not going to have an issue with his reach, that’s not going to have an issue getting inside. He is going to get inside. You know, what happens is gonna happen, but I guarantee you this, he’s going to go inside, Daniel’s going to take him down and we’ll see what happens from there.” “Jon will definitely pose some problems for Cain, but Cain’s going to pose more problems for Jon that he’s never faced in his whole entire life.”

High Level Boxing Coach Thinks Velasquez Could Be Two Sport Champ

BJPENN.COM News - April 30, 2014

“There’s a local [MMA] gym here in Oxnard, and I have had some of the guys come in and do stand up with us. One of the guys that came in for a few days that was training with me that we were really excited to have was Cain Velasquez. He was here for three days and worked with me and everything. I think this guy is not only great at what he does, but he could also be a great boxer because he’s got tremendous power. When I hold the mitts with Cain Velasquez, right away I told his people that brought him, I said, ‘What do you guys think about training for boxing because this guy could make a lot of noise in professional boxing?’ He’s got skills and tremendous power. He’s got good boxing skills. I think a good trainer could teach him how to fight, build up a good record in two or three years and become a champion. I honestly believe so.”

D.C. Says He's Waiting On Jon Jones Title Fight

BJPENN.COM News - April 29, 2014

“I’ve waited long enough. This will be my fifth top-10 win, and I’m not fighting anyone else. I’m going to sit and wait and get better, and I’m going to wait to fight Jon Jones. If it took nine months, I’d wait nine months. It’s time for me to fight for the belt. It’s not that I’m afraid I’ll lose to any of these guys, because I don’t believe that. I think I can beat them all. I just think that at a point, you have to make a stand about what’s important for me. Eventually one of these guys is going to take me to the edge and make me have to fight. Dan Henderson could potentially be that guy. I may need a lot of time between fights. The only reason I haven’t needed so much time is because I haven’t really been pressed.” Next month Daniel Cormier will make his second appearance as a UFC light-heavyweight fighter. His opponent? Dan Henderson.

Cormier: Gustafsson Has "No Chance" Against Jones In Rematch

BJPENN.COM News - April 29, 2014

“No chance. Let me rephrase that. I’m not saying he doesn’t have a chance. I’m just saying that if I had to bet my money, or if I asked 10 people who wins this fight, nine out of those 10 people would say Jon Jones, because honestly, I believe that he’s better because he has more tools. When you look at Jon on paper against a lot of people, he seems to match up well against every single one of us. He seems to holds the advantages against every single one of us. It’s the intangibles. It’s the things that you can’t measure on a piece of paper that it’s going to take to beat Jon Jones — the things that I believe I hold in spades. I’ve been winning my entire life. That’s all I know how to do, and that’s what I plan on continuing to do as I finish my mixed martial arts career. I’m not trying to sound arrogant or cocky in any way. I know how to win. I know that at the end of the day, when I step in the cage with most guys that I fight, I’ve done more things right over the course of my lifetime and over the course of my athletic career than they have. And that’s what carries me.” During a stint on yesterday’s ‘The MMA Hour‘ top UFC light-heavyweight Daniel Cormier discussed the top of the UFC’s 205 ladder and how he fits in it.

Mike Swick Planning Return To Middleweight

BJPENN.COM News - April 29, 2014

“I’ve got my health back a lot from before, obviously I was not doing too good during that time for those fights, walking at 170, but I’m back up to 210 now. I feel good, I’m able to eat, getting my strength back. I’ll fight middleweight. Yeah, I’ve got my size back. For the last six or seven years I’ve been walking really light because of my health issues with my esophagus, so I haven’t been able to eat a proper diet and basically just really malnourished. So, I’m able to do that now and get my diet back and my size so yeah I’ll definitely be fighting at 185. I wanna just go back in and just fight! No, a title is not in my mind at this time, I just wanna fight and fight healthy for the first time in years and years.” In a recent interview with ‘Submission Radio‘ Mike ‘Quick’ Swick confirmed his health status and intentions to return to the UFC’s middleweight division.
