The New York Bad Ass, Phil Baroni, is set to take on Japanese knockout artist Nobutatsu Suzuki at ONE FC: “Rise To Power” in Manila on May 31st. The bout with Suzuki will mark Baroni’s 3rd with the asian based promotion. Phil’s first fight came at ONE FC’s inaugural show against Yoshiyuki Yoshida, who more or less held onto Baroni for the duration of the fight, earning a lack luster decision win.

Leonard Garcia (15-11-1 MMA, 2-7 UFC) knew what was at stake when he stepped into the octagon at UFC 159 against Cody McKenzie. After losing 4 consecutive fights, Garcia knew that his job would be on the line if he did not prove victorious. Unfortunately for “Bad Boy”, things just didn’t go his way at UFC 159 in New Jersey, as he lost his 5th fight in a row via unanimous judges decision.

Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy (25-10 MMA, 6-4 UFC) was recently forced to withdraw from a scheduled UFC on FOX 7 bout with Matt Brown, this after it was discovered that he had a heart-related problem in which he basically has two heart beats. The syndrome, known as Wolff-Parkinson White pattern or “Wolf Heart”, is a heart disorder that can lead to rapid heart rate, low blood pressure and even heart failure. Although the news was  anything but good, it’s not all bad either, because according to the Brit, he hasn’t quite been diagnosed with the actual syndrome just yet. Dan visited a cardiologist and was told he would have to undergo ablation surgery, so that doctors may be able to study his heart and see if they can remedy the issue.

“I think Tyron, he’s a tough guy, but I have a lot more experience. Great wrestler, All-American wrestler, heavy hands. He’s a tough guy but I think I have a lot more experience and just advantages everywhere. Wrestling is pretty even but I think striking I can beat him, I can beat him on the ground and tap him. I feel like it’s my time. I want to go out there and bring a lot of pressure and break him. His jiu-jitsu is not bad but I don’t think it compares to mine. He does have five or six submission wins so he isn’t someone I’m looking at as no jiu-jitsu. I just think he’s clearly not at me level, though. I was a little surprised at Tyron Woodley, I was hoping to fight someone in the top five like Ellenberger again or Condit or Rory MacDonald. I was hoping to get one of those huge names but Tyron Woodley is a respectful opponent. I think he’s ranked around 10 or somewhere around there. He’s coming off a big knockout, he certainly a worthy opponent so I can’t complain about the fight. He’s coming off a huge win over Jay Hieron. He came out and dropped him right away and put him down, so he showed he deserved big fight by that win. I think I’m a big step up in competition for him but he’s earned his shot. I need to go out there and not only win the fight but also finish him. I want to go out there and win by either knockout or submission.”
