Bellator MMA’s ‘King Mo’ Lawal will take part in this Saturday’s one-night, four-man light heavyweight tournament, being held at Bellator’s ‘Dynamite’ event. The tournament will determine the next 205 title challenger and will feature, ‘King Mo’, Phil Davis, Emanuel Newton and Linton Vassell. After the night is over we’ll know which two men will fight for the title next, as the title is on the line in the main event, with current champ Liam McGeary taking on MMA legend Tito Ortiz.

MMA legend Tito Ortiz will once again fight for a world title. This Saturday at Bellator ‘Dynamite’ ‘The Huntington Beach Bad Boy’ will look to capture the light heavyweight title from the current champ, Liam McGeary. Ortiz is currently riding a two fight win streak, with wins over Stephan Bonnar and former Bellator middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko.

Everyone has an opinion on UFC fighter Nick Diaz’s controversial five year suspension, handed down by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The support for Diaz has been impressive to say the least. Just about every fighter has come out and shown that they think it’s ridiculous that he was given such a harsh punishment. Even UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey took a moment during her big UFC 193 press conference to go off on the NSAC about their decision.

Mixed martial arts veteran Joey Beltran (16-11 MMA) made his middleweight debut at April’s Bellator 136 event, where he scored a unanimous decision victory over Brian Rogers. “The Mexicutioner” is now set to face Kendall Grove in the co-main event of Bellator 143, which goes down September 25 live from State Farm Arena in Texas.

On Monday, UFC fighter Nick Diaz was suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for five years and fined $165,000. This all came from a drug test from UFC 183, when Diaz fought Anderson Silva, that came back positive for marijuana. However, Diaz’s legal team, at least from this writer’s perspective, provided very sufficient evidence and testimony that showed massive inconsistencies in the three tests results, which were all from different labs. Basically one out of the three showed failed results and the NSAC decided that was the test they wanted to go with, and essentially ignore the other two. So, they handed down a five years suspension, something that really has no precedent. There are no guidelines in place that say he should be given that amount of time. The board basically boiled it down to them feeling disrespected by Diaz, for pleading the fifth and for his past offenses. Fair?

Former Strikeforce lightweight champion and UFC fighter Josh Thomson will get to make his Bellator MMA debut in front of his home crowd, in San Jose, CA. He’ll be fighting Mike Bronzoulis at this Saturday’s historic Bellator ‘Dynamite’ event. It will be the first of its kind, featuring both a cage for MMA fights and a ring for GLORY kickboxing matches right next to each other in the same venue.

Good news, all the fighters in this Saturday’s Bellator ‘Dynamite’ tournament have passed their out-of-competition drug tests. The news comes from California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) executive officer Andy Foster. The tournament will include Phil Davis, King Mo Lawal, Emanuel Newton and Linton Vassell. The winner of the tournament will be crowned tournament champ and will be next in line for a shot at the light heavyweight title.

Former Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson most recently fought for the UFC. Now, in his next fight, he’ll be in the Bellator MMA cage. Thomson fought four times in the UFC but will now test the waters in a new promotion. There was some controversy surrounding his departure from the UFC. The promotion came out and said they released Thomson, while the fighter says that’s simply not the case, he chose to look elsewhere.

ONE Championship’s Ben Askren and Luis Santos will meet each other in the cage once again. Their first fight ended in a No Contest. Now, they’ll run things back and give it another shot when they face off at ‘ONE Championship 34: Pride of Lions’ which goes down on November 13 in Singapore. The welterweight title fight will serve as the event’s headliner. The fight was confirmed by officials, via the Las Vegas Review Journal.

Joel Tudor and Kelly Slater have two big things in common, they’re known for surfing and for BJJ. The difference is that Tudor is a BJJ black belt, while Slater, who hasn’t put as much time into the sport is a blue belt.
