With over eighty professional mixed martial arts fights under his belt, UFC veteran Jeff Monson is as experienced as it gets outside of the octagon. Whether or not he has the skill to cut it with today’s talent is irrelevant; the forty-four year old is still touring the world and getting paid to kick a**! Monson almost suffered a loss at a recent event in Russia called “Shield Relight 2” and was knocked out and dazed in the first round. As he looked up from the canvas moments after the referee stepped in to wave the fight off, his opponent soccer kicked Monson in the head! He was disqualified and Monson’s hand was raised in victory. The undefeated and self proclaimed “king” of boxing hasn’t gained many fans with his recent pair of fights, and will continue to struggle in doing so with his most recent statement. Floyd Mayweather has been accused of being greedy and fighting safe so he can take home a guaranteed paycheck, but “Money” should not be blamed for his approach in fighting or attitude on pay. Mayweather has walked into his last two fights with Manny Pacquiao and Andre Berto and walked out millions of dollars richer breaking records in the process. During those fights, he took minimal damage while dictating the pace of the fight in the fashion of a true ring general. It is understood that fans do not think his style of fighting is as exciting as Mike Tyson’s was back in the early 1990s, but that isn’t the type of fighter Mayweather is.

Sergio Pettis is finally stepping out of the shadow cast by his older brother Anthony “Showtime” Pettis. It was a shadow that was not deserved; Sergio impressed long before he made his way into the octagon and won his debut with an impressive decision win against Will Campuzano. Sergio was just twenty years old at the time of his debut and still has plenty of time to be just as successful, if not moreso, than “Showtime”. Bellator’s heavyweight division is slowly starting to develop into one worth following as the company announced another exciting heavy-fight for Bellator 145. Former WWE Superstar Bobby Lashley will be making his way into the Bellator cage for fourth time when he meets James Thompson at “Bellator 145”. Officials announced the booking on Friday’s broadcast of “Bellator 143”. Lashley is currently riding one of the best streaks in the division with six consecutive wins under his belt. Since making his MMA debut in 2008, the former professional wrestler has become a bit of a journeyman in this sport having fought for nine different promotions before finding a home with Bellator. His last victory over Dan Charles took place in June and was about as dominant as a second round TKO could get. This will not be the first time Lashley went toe-to-toe with Thompson, though.

Some news from the boxing world, as the highly anticipated fight between Wladimir Klitschko and Tyson Fury as been scrapped from it’s original date. The fight was set to go down on Oct. 24, but Klitschko just recently announced that he has to postpone the fight because he has suffered an injury. Man, we just got that ridiculous press conference and now the fight’s called off? Bummer.

The story here is that a student was messing with another student who is visually impaired. In the video below you can see him punching the blind kid over and over again, than justice happens. From out of no where another student comes to the aid of the blind classmate and completely levels the alleged bully.

All did not go well at today’s Bellator 143 weigh-ins. Actually everyone managed to make weight, except one. But that one missed weight by a lot, and I mean a lot. Nick Gonzalez, who was scheduled to fight Ryan Couture in a lightweight fight (lightweight!), ended up stepping on the scale and coming in at 172.75. To be clear, that’s missing weight for a welterweight fight as well. I mean, there’s bad weight cuts and then there’s not even giving a damn.

Ryan Couture may have simply been known as “the son of UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture” when he made his professional mixed martial arts debut in 2010, but the lightweight is starting to step out of his father’s shadow and create a unique following of his own. While his father competed mainly for the UFC, Ryan has become a bit of a journeyman in MMA, learning lessons while fighting for both Strikeforce and UFC. Couture now calls Bellator his home and will be fighting for the promotion this Friday at “Bellator 143” when he steps into the cage to square off with Nick Gonzalez.
