Bellator MMA has released 5 fighters from its roster, including a former champion surprisingly. Jason Floyd of The MMA Report broke the news via Twitter, revealing that Alexander Sarnavskiy, Alexander Volkov, Mike Mucitelli, Fabricio Guerreiro, and Joe Duarte have all been released by the promotion.

Recently, when the NSAC handed Nick Diaz a 5-year suspension for a failed drug test for marijuana, the MMA community was outraged. The outrage spread, and suddenly many high-profile celebrities began backing Diaz and crying foul. A White House petition was started that earned the 100,000 required signatures thanks to the help of Cher, Wiz Khalifa, Gina Carano, and many others. Last week it was revealed that Diaz’s legal team was in settlement talks with the NSAC.

UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has gone on record and said that she wants to win titles in sports outside of MMA. Her initiative to be remembered as the greatest combat sport fighter of all time would require her to step outside of the Octagon and in to a new ring. Retired boxing world champion Oscar De La Hoya and operator of Golden Boy Promotions says that he has already been in talks with the Olympic judo medalist turned pop icon.

Ahead of UFC 193 on November 14th, many are counting UFC women’s strawweight title challenger Valerie Letourneau out of her title bout with champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk despite Letourneau being undefeated inside the Octagon. Even oddsmakers currently have Letourneau as a +900 favorite, meaning if you were to bet $100 on her and she were to win, you would make $900. In comparison, it would take betting $2,000 on Joanna Jedrzejczyk to potentially win $100.

Well, it appears not every fighter disagreed with Dustin Poirier’s decision to decline a fight against Norman Parke after Joseph Duffy withdrew from their ‘UFC Fight Night: Dublin’ main event bout due to a concussion sustained in training. Poirier caught quite a bit of criticism from fans and fighters for not accepting a fight with Parke, however he has defended his decision multiple times by saying that the UFC isn’t a tough-man competition, and that if he fought the way fans wanted him to, he would be ‘broke and brain dead.’

Yesterday it was revealed that Rousimar Palhares was suspended for 2 years for ‘unsportsmanlike conduct’ after continuing to hold a kimura despite Jake Shields tapping and referee Steve Mazzagatti attempting to separate the two. In addition, Palhares has to forfeit $40,000 from his fight purse, and was stripped of the WSOF welterweight title.
