At ONE: Masters of Destiny, which is scheduled for July 12 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, ONE Atomweight World Champion Angela Lee will return to action opposite Brazilian jiu jitsu specialist Michelle Nicolini. The bout will occur in the strawweight division.
Interestingly, Lee and Nicolini have met once before, on the grappling circuit. Brazil’s Nicolini won that contest by submission.
In this bout, Angela Lee will look to rebound from the first loss of her professional MMA career, a fifth-round TKO loss to Strawweight World Champion Xiong Jing Nan in an early frontrunner for 2019’s Fight of the Year honors.
Nicolini, meanwhile, will look to rebound from a November decision loss to Singapore’s Tiffany Teo. Prior to this loss, she was on a three-fight streak.
The card will also feature an anticipated rematch between Giorgio Petrosyan and Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy. The pair first met in a razor close contest at ONE: Enter the Dragon in Singapore in May, which the Thai Petchmorakot won by decision. Yet this bout was later ruled a no contest, and the pair were scheduled for this immediate rematch. This anticipated rematch, which is the final quarterfinal bout of the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix, will serve as the card’s main event.
In addition to the latest outings from Angela Lee and Giorgio Petrosyan, this ONE: Masters of Destiny Card will also feature a compelling lightweight bout between New Zealand’s Ev Ting and Japan’s Daichi Abe.
How do you think Angela Lee will perform in her anticipated return to competition?
