Hyu vows no escape for Suablack at ONE Fight Night 41: “Apply pressure in my usual way”

Hyu has steamrolled every opponent ONE Championship has put in front of him. At ONE Fight Night 41: Sinsamut vs. Jarvis on Prime Video on Friday, March 13, the 23-year-old Japanese phenom plans to do the same to Suablack Tor Pran49.

The three-round flyweight kickboxing bout broadcasts live from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok in U.S. primetime on Amazon Prime Video.

Hyu enters at 12-0, with four wins inside ONE and a US$50,000 performance bonus already on his resume. Suablack brings 62 career victories, sharp outside boxing, and veteran cunning to the ring. Hyu studied the tape and knows exactly what he’s walking into.

“His defense is quite good. It’s not just about throwing punches, he’s thinking about what the opponent is targeting while he attacks. And he doesn’t just blindly go for the knockout,” he said.

“He’ll also outbox for points when needed. I think those are his strengths. He’s an outside boxer, and he’s also someone who uses his head a lot during the fight.”

Respect only goes so far. Hyu has identified the cracks in Suablack’s armor and intends to walk straight through them.

His karate foundation gives him a distance-reading ability he considers elite. That skill set — sharpened through relentless shadowboxing — lets him decode opponents mid-fight and adjust in real time.

He did exactly that against Jordan Estupinan at ONE Fight Night 35, rallying from a knockdown to finish the previously unbeaten contender in the third round.

Now he sees a back-weighted stance and a predictable left straight. He sees a finish waiting to happen.

“I’ve always valued shadowboxing in my daily training, and I think my sense of distance is better than most people’s. I can read the opponent’s attack patterns and build my game plan during the fight, so that’s my strong point,” he said.

“In terms of single attacks, for punches, I think his left straight is pretty much all he has. He’s also back-weighted. That’s something that will have a significant impact on my strategy for this fight. He’s physically very solid too, but I want to apply pressure in my usual way, and I won’t let him escape.”
