American Kickboxing Academy’s Josh ‘The Punk’ Thomson is all set to make his Bellator MMA debut in San Jose, CA, at the historic ‘Dynamite’ event, which will feature both MMA fights and GLORY kickboxing in one venue, with the cage and ring right next to each other. Thomson will be fighting in front of a home crowd on Saturday night and he couldn’t be more excited. Thomson talked to BJPENN.COM’s Layzie The Savage a week before his debut and said he’s good to go and can’t wait to see what the future holds for Bellator.

Bellator MMA’s Emanuel Newton is set to fight former UFC fighter Phil Davis in the first round of the four-man, one-night tournament, going down at the big ‘Dynamite’ event this Saturday. Newton was the former light heavyweight champion before losing to current champ Liam McGeary back in Feb. Now he’s ready to get back to the title and will do so if he becomes the tournament champion.

Bellator MMA light heavyweight ‘King Mo’ Lawal will compete in Saturday night’s four-man, one-night tournament at the giant ‘Dynamite’ event. He’ll meet Linton Vassell in the first fight and if he gets past him then he’ll go up against the winner of Phil Davis vs. Emanuel Newton.

Bellator welterweight Paul Daley will compete at this Saturday’s ‘Dynamite’ event, but it won’t be in an MMA fight. ‘Samtex’ will take on Fernando Gonzalez in a kickboxing match, which is possible due to the unique setup of the historic event. ‘Dynamite’ will hold both MMA and kickboxing bouts throughout the night, with a cage and a ring right next to each other.

Ahead of this Saturday’s historic Bellator ‘Dynamite’ event, President Scott Coker spoke with BJPENN.COM’s Layzie The Savage. Coker of course talked about Fedor Emelianenko, but said he hasn’t spoken with him about signing with Bellator, however did mention that after his first few fights back if he still wants to fight then they would revisit that decision.

Before Saturday’s massive Bellator ‘Dynamite’ event, the fighters stepped on the mat and got in some last minute workouts in front of the media. ‘Dynamite’ will feature both MMA fights, in the Bellator cage, and GLORY kickboxing matches, which will take place in the ring. Both of which are located on the same floor, next to each other in the same venue. It will be the first show of it’s kind and will especially be interesting to watch during the prelims when there will be both MMA and kickboxing fights happening at the same time.

Bellator MMA’s ‘King Mo’ Lawal will take part in this Saturday’s one-night, four-man light heavyweight tournament, being held at Bellator’s ‘Dynamite’ event. The tournament will determine the next 205 title challenger and will feature, ‘King Mo’, Phil Davis, Emanuel Newton and Linton Vassell. After the night is over we’ll know which two men will fight for the title next, as the title is on the line in the main event, with current champ Liam McGeary taking on MMA legend Tito Ortiz.

Everyone has an opinion on UFC fighter Nick Diaz’s controversial five year suspension, handed down by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The support for Diaz has been impressive to say the least. Just about every fighter has come out and shown that they think it’s ridiculous that he was given such a harsh punishment. Even UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey took a moment during her big UFC 193 press conference to go off on the NSAC about their decision.

On Monday, UFC fighter Nick Diaz was suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for five years and fined $165,000. This all came from a drug test from UFC 183, when Diaz fought Anderson Silva, that came back positive for marijuana. However, Diaz’s legal team, at least from this writer’s perspective, provided very sufficient evidence and testimony that showed massive inconsistencies in the three tests results, which were all from different labs. Basically one out of the three showed failed results and the NSAC decided that was the test they wanted to go with, and essentially ignore the other two. So, they handed down a five years suspension, something that really has no precedent. There are no guidelines in place that say he should be given that amount of time. The board basically boiled it down to them feeling disrespected by Diaz, for pleading the fifth and for his past offenses. Fair?
