Despite being the middleweight champion, Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33 KO) is coming into the fight with Canelo Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KO) this Saturday as the underdog. After odds opened up at close to -200 for Canelo and +160 for Cotto, the odds are widening for the two prize fighters. As of Tuesday, four days before the fight, Odds Shark has Canelo at -305 and Cotto at +275.

Fans and celebrities have gone on to congratulate Holly Holm on her historic victory to take the UFC women’s bantamweight championship from Ronda Rousey. Former world heavyweight championship boxer Mike Tyson, who has kept busy with shows and appearances following his retirement from the ring has been an avid fan of MMA and revealed who he was rooting for at UFC 193. Tyson offered some words of advice for the fallen champion who posted a photo to Twitter of himself and Rousey and captioned it, “@RondaRousey a true champ is not defined by wins. You are glorious even still. @danawhite @ufc #ComeBackQueen”

Fury, who is set to fight Wladimir Klitschko for WBO, IBF, and WBA titles is also known for his controversial character. Fury spoke with the UK’s Daily Mail newspaper, and surely never let the question of his character down. The contender hit a vast variety of subjects, quite unusual for the typical boxing interview.

A 10 year study was conducted at the University OF Alberta Glen Sather Sports Medicine Clinic and then subsequently published in the Clinical Journal Of Sports Medicine, revealing that while more injuries occur in MMA fights, they tend to be superficial rather than deep trauma.

Recently, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey landed a spot on the cover of ‘Ring’ magazine, which is a boxing magazine. While UFC fans were impressed by Rousey gracing the cover of the famed boxing magazine, boxing fans were split down the middle. Some said that it was wrong of the magazine to feature a UFC champion rather than a boxer. Others said that Rousey being on the cover could draw new eyes to boxing, which many consider to be a dying sport.

Saturday night Gennady Golovkin became the unified middleweight champ as he put David Lemieux away in the 8th round. While the fight was close to ending in the 5th when Golovkin landed a brutal liver shot, Lemieux was able to survive several more rounds before the referee had enough in the 8th and called the fight.
