VIDEO | Boxing’s biggest knockout of 2016?

By Russell Ess - April 19, 2016

On Friday, Mason “Rock Hard Mighty” Menard (31-1, 23 KOs) delivered a devastating KO punch that landed square on his opponent Eudy “AK47” Bernardo (21-1, 15 KOs) in the co-main event of ShoBox: The New Generation.

Menard’s cataclysmic right hand in the second round delivered shockwaves around the world and the Internet has been buzzing ever since with much talk of the Menard being a serious candidate to win “knockout of the year.”

With the statement made on Friday, Menard of Rayne, Louisiana has established himself as a real threat in the lightweight division.

“I train hard, diet right,” said Menard (transcribed by Boxingnews24). I get good sparring. I do everything to the tee. I go to church on Sundays and the blessing come true for me,” said a happy Menard, post-fight. “It felt great to be on the world stage and perform like that. With all my people back home watching and developing new fans out of the people watching everywhere, it’s just a great feeling. I want to continue this.”

Menard’s promoter, Greg Cohen of Greg Cohen Promotions sees great potential in the young fighter. “With one punch, Mason is now a serious contender in the lightweight division,” Cohen said. “He’s ready for any of the champions including Jorge Linares, Rances Barthelemy or Terry Flanagan.”
