Originally, the currently vacant flyweight title was to be fought over between the current top-ranked contender and former bantamweight title challenger Valentina Shevchenko and the former strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 231 on December 8.

The madness only continues in the world of the UFC. UFC 230 once again has a new main event and it’s even more unexpected than the last. Just yesterday it was reported that a heavyweight title clash was in discussion between the likes of the champion Daniel Cormier and top contender Derrick Lewis. Well, this has now come to fruition as ESPN’s Brett Okamoto confirms via UFC President Dana White and Lewis himself that the bout is on for the November 3 date in Madison Square Garden.

Shortly after submitting Conor McGregor at UFC 229 on Saturday night, UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov climbed out of the Octagon and dive-bombed McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis. Nurmagomedov and Danis then engaged in a brief fight, as McGregor began to scuffle with Nurmagomedov’s entourage inside the Octagon. Despite this wild scuffle, Dillon Danis was reportedly out enjoying Las Vegas’ night life shortly thereafter. This according to top UFC featherweight contender Brian Ortega.

Ahead of this fight, McGregor hit Nurmagomedov with a near ceaseless stream of trash talk, some of which was even directed at Nurmagomedov’s father Abdulmanap. While Khabib Nurmagomedov clearly didn’t take kindly to Conor McGregor’s choice to involve topics like family and faith in his pre-fight trash talk, his father Abdulmanap says he has forgiven the Irish MMA superstar after speaking to the aksakals (male elders) of his community.

Unfortunately for McGregor and his dedicated team, this mission didn’t go as planned. Instead, the Irish MMA star was soundly walloped en route to a fourth-round submission loss. Although he was able to steal a round from Nurmagomedov — something nobody has been able to do in a long time — it was not enough, and he’ll now have to return to the drawing board.

Shortly after his fourth-round submission of Conor McGregor in the UFC 229 main event, he vaulted out of the Octagon and attacked McGregor’s friend and training partner Dillon Danis, sparking a wild brawl between members of both teams. For his role in this post fight chaos, Khabib Nurmagomedov is now facing punishment from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC), who oversaw the fight, and possibly from the UFC as well.

After months of bad pay-per-view numbers, where UFC 228 estimated at 130 thousand buys, UFC 229 was a sigh of relief for the UFC. In the main event, Conor McGregor made his return to the Octagon to take on the lightweight champion and undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov. Nurmagomedov proved to be too much for McGregor and submitted him in the fourth round.

On Saturday night, in the main event of the massive UFC 229 card, UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov defended his title with a fourth-round submission win over former UFC lightweight and featherweight champ Conor McGregor. Unfortunately, however, that’s not where the violence ended. Moments after the fight came to a close, Khabib Nurmagomedov vaulted out of the cage and attacked Conor McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis, which sparked a massive brawl between his and McGregor’s teams. The chaos swirled inside and outside of the cage, and it was several minutes before it was completely under control.
